I know that for Hanukkah it's accustomed to give dmey Hanukkah, but I also understand that some religious authorities say that on this chag it's important to do mitsvat more than ever.

Does anyone know where is this orginating?

Also, what tzdaka do yu recommend?

I put money in kuppot zdaka, I give to homeless people, I often donate to charities.

I read about an interesting zdaka for the people of Sderot , so I'll be helping Israel too...

I'll apreciate your comments or information on the subject.

Have a great day

Hi Robin

There is a Mitzvah to give tzedaka. A Jew is required to give 10% of his earnings to tzedaka. You are allowed to give more of course but 10% is the minimum. There are many Jewish organizations who do wonderful and important work but are unable to continue doing so because they don't have enough money. Finding one of these places is not hard. Many Jewish schools are having a very hard time paying their teachers and staff. It is a very big zechus to be able to support places that teach Torah. You can look for the local Yeshiva or day school and maybe give there. Or you can find other organizations to support.
